The 2025 CIMS User Group Conference took place on Thursday, October 16th, at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells. This annual gathering brought together cemetery professionals from across the country for a day of learning, collaboration, and connection.

The conference provided a valuable opportunity for cemeterians to connect with peers, discuss industry trends, and network directly with the CIMS team. One of the key topics of conversation this year was the continued rise in cremations and how cemeteries are adapting to meet changing needs. Attendees shared their experiences and ideas for expanding options such as adding columbariums, creating scatter gardens, allowing multiple cremation burials on one plot, and exploring green burial practices.

This year’s guest speaker, Todd Mannix from Cooperative Funeral Fund, delivered an insightful presentation on financial planning for cemeteries. His discussion centered on the importance of care funds and how to build a long-term plan to ensure a cemetery’s sustainability. From determining appropriate contribution levels to understanding investment strategies, Todd offered practical guidance to help cemeterians strengthen their financial footing and secure the future of their cemeteries.
A Look Ahead: New Features and CIMS Ledger
At CIMS, we’re always looking for ways to simplify cemetery management. During the conference, attendees got a first look at CIMS Ledger, a new accounting feature designed specifically for cemeteries. They also got an early preview of several exciting updates planned for 2026—developments that will continue to simplify workflows and enhance the overall CIMS experience.
